Nearing Twilight

"Nearing Twilight"
18" x 36"
Oil on wrapped canvas

On the way to get ice cream in Cape Cod on vacation this summer, I stopped and took this photo at twilight.  The boats were half in the sun and half in the shade.  This beautiful little port is Harwich Port.

Day 24 " Beach Path"

30 Painting in 30 Days
Day 24
"Beach Path"
6" x 8"
oil on canvas panel
A path to the beach in Cape Cod.  The ocean is a deeper blue than it is here in the Carolinas.  Working on greens and shadows in this painting.  I never get tired of mixing greens because they can be so different.

30 Paintings in 30 Days Collage

30 Paintings in 30 Days Collage
Here is the result of 30 days of painting.  Sometimes other things in your live get neglected in order to devote so much time to painting and posting.  My next project will be to add a few touches to some of these paintings and pick which ones that would make the best large paintings.  I believe this is my fourth January challenge.  I have started them in September but never had time to finish the whole month.  My themes have been:  doors, trees, beaches & marshes, and this one which is mostly taken from images on my New England/Canada cruise.  I would love to hear comments on this challenge.

Day 30 "Bay View"

30 Paintings in 30 Days
Day 30
"Bay View"
8" x 8"
oil on canvas panel
$85

Thirty days of painting was an amazing challenge.  Twenty five of my thirty paintings were inspired by my New England, Canada cruise.  The photos were from Maine, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and finally Cape Cod.  I hope you enjoyed the painting journey with me.  I felt as I painted each day, that my paintings got stronger.  I had a three day workshop in-between so I was also try new techniques and colors.

Day 19 "A bit of Color"

30 Paintings in 30 Days
Day 19
"A Bit of Color"
8" x 10"
oil on canvas panel

Another Fall painting from a photo that I took in Cape Cod.  I was painting a day ahead but I got behind when a wonderful friend visited me from Florida.  We have been friends for forty years so it was a treat to see her.  Tomorrow I'm in a three day workshop so I don't know what I will post for those three days.  .

Day 17 "Harwich Marsh"

30 Paintings in 30 Days
Day 17
"Harwich Marsh"
8" x 10"
oil on canvas panel
Palette knife painting
$95
Here is the mate to yesterday's painting.  Another Cape Cod marsh scene.  I usually tone the canvas before I paint, but I toned this one with orange and let a little of it show through.  As I paint my days from my vacation in New England and Canada, I relive being there and the bright sunny Fall days.

"Bay Marsh"

"Bay Marsh"
30" x 30"
Oil on gallery wrapped canvas
palette knife
$650

I went on a two day tour of Cape Cod.  The blues of the sky and water were so brilliant.  The water is a very deep blue and the sky very clear.  I put a little red in the background trees to show that some of the trees were starting to turn.
