Marsh #4

This marsh painting was started by pouring alcohol ink on the canvas.  Then I put on a clear gesso to preserve the drips and stains of the alcohol.  Then I  added a few layers of translucent oil paint so the colors underneath would show through.  This was painted on a gallery wrapped canvas 15" x 45".  I love the size and color.  This painting may be purchased at CPCC ~ Pease Gallery ~1200 Sam Ryburn Walk, Charlotte, NC 28204.  Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday 10-2pm until January 11, 2013.  Price:  $700

Marsh Painting #3

I took a leap with this marsh painting and made it an abstract landscape.  The size is 15" x 45" on a gallery wrapped canvas.  I used alcohol ink and acrylic paint.  I started with the alcohol ink for the flow and design and then painted acrylic paint over some of the ink.

Marsh Painting 2

This is a painting of the same photo from Pawley's Island.  I used oils and alcohol ink.  Not good to mix together but I kept them in separate places.  Some alcohol ink in the sky and in the water of the marsh.  The alcohol ink makes very intense color.

"Mineral Springs"

I liked the way the alcohol ink worked in "Hot Springs"so much  that I made a slightly larger one for "Mineral Springs".  I framed this one to give to a dear friend for a graduation present.  It is in a floater frame.  What do you think?

"Hot Springs"

After watching artist June Rollins demonstrate how to work with alcohol inks, I tried this one.  The two colors I used were stream blue and butterscotch yellow.  I used metallic gold and metallic silver which adds a shine to the painting.  It is a fun process.
