"Parisian Door" Day 13

30 paintings in 30 days
Day 13
10" x 8"
oil on canvas panel
$100
I used a photograph from www.scanlan.com about 12 years ago to paint a mural on my wall in my studio.  This is just half the photograph and mural.

This is the mural in my studio.  I change the painting to fit my door theme.
This painting didn't looked finished so I add the other half timbers this morning.  See the difference in composition.
This is the final painting.
$100

Day 12 "Banyan Tree"

30 Paintings in 30 Days
Day 12
4" x 4"
oil on panel
$35

I used just two colors for this monochromatic painting, viridian and violet.  The values came from gradually  adding white.  It shows coolness of the day where the sky and sea almost match.  This small painting was harder to do than some of my larger daily paintings.

I took a photo of this oak tree in the Filoli Gardens in Woodside, California two summers ago.  I was looking up into the tree and saw the burl and the gnarled old branches.
