Abstract Study

My theme last month for the 31 day Strada Easel Challenge was painting from photos from the Carolina's except for a few exceptions.  This month theme will be studies of abstract or color triads.  The challenge for myself is 61 paintings in 61 days.

After doing the detailed Eiffel Tower yesterday, I wanted a little more movement and freedom today.  I though of a sunset at the beach and used colors of the ocean, sky, sand, and brilliant sun.

"Open Arms"

This abstract was done after a workshop with Jane Smithers and Karen Weihs.  I did something similar in the workshop with reds and blues.   My inspiration for this was the succulent colors of "Design Seed".  I wanted to express movement and color in this painting.

This painting is for tomorrow "Day 9".  I liked it so much that I took a photo of it before it is finished.  I have a pot of flowers and a tree to add.  I think this might be something for a larger abstract painting.
