Day 12 "Piloting a Ship"

30 Paintings in 30 Days
Day 12
"Piloting a Ship"
8" x 10"
oil on canvas panel

Day 12's challenge was painting this mighty tug boat that spends it day piloting big ships out of the harbor.  I was also trying to show the motion in the water.  I was on a New England and Canada Cruise last Fall.  I had a cabin with at the bow of the ship and a beautiful view of leaving the ports each day.  The pilot had just hopped back on this tug boat after seeing the cruise ship safely out of the harbor.

Sunset on the Beach

I have painted this scene before and sold it.  I keep being drawn it.  I even made giclees of it.  This is an 8" x 8" and I also painted  one that is 6" x 6".

Here is the painting framed.
This photo was taken outside so the color is a little truer.

Harmony

"Harmony"
36" x 48"
Oil on Gallery Wrapped canvas
Palette Knife

This painting was modeled after "Beach Blue" a 18" x 24" painting.  The first painting I did was a result of piecing 9 beach photos together.  The images gave me inspiration for the colors to use for both paintings.

"Beach Sunset"

Thank you Mint Hill Arts for asking me to do a demo on June 25.  It was a very interactive audience and lots of fun.  This is the end result of the demo.  I'm still undecided whether it is finished or not.  What do you think?
