Through the Fence

It was a beautiful day at Hunter Farms in Weddington. There were five or six school buses full of children to see Hazel the cow and go for a hay ride.  My small plein air painting group decided to stay out of the way of all the children's activities.  We learned to paint something we really couldn't see.  It was warm weather and a great day to experiment.

Day 28 "Big Eyes"

Day 28
"Big Eyes"
8" x 8"
oil on canvas panel
I painted at a farm yesterday and painted a tractor while I was there.  I took several photos of this sweet calf.  She was young and a little scruffy but had beautiful markings around her eyes.  She reminded me of Liza Minnelli"s eyes especially in "Cabaret".

Day 27 "Red Tractor"

Day 27
"Red Tractor"
8" x 8"
oil on canvas panel
Today was a beautiful day to plein air paint.  We visited Hunter Farm with so many choices of what to paint.  I painted this working tractor while listening to the goats and roosters near by.  Tomorrow I may attempt to paint the sweet young calves that were in the barn.

"Autumn Days" sold

"Autumn Days"
8" x 10"

plein air
SOLD

So excited that two of my plein air paintings from Hunter Farm have sold.  I painted this on a beautiful autumn day last month.  The children were out on a field trip running around and taking photos in front  of the wagon I painted.  Maybe you can still feel that energy in the painting.

"Not Moving"

"Not Moving"
oil on canvas panel
9" x 12"

My plein group visits this farm often.  Not only do they have old Barnes, silos, cows, and other animals, they have a wonderful truck that is nestled down in to the grass and weeds there.

Autumn Days

For Sale at "Three French Hens"  $225

Charlotte
A beautiful day to paint at Hunter Farms with many choices.  They have old barnes,  a petting zoo, farm equipment, hay rides, and lots of pumpkins.  While I was painting this scene a bus load of young children arrived and were running around looking at everything and picking out their pumpkins to take home.  I brighten up this painting a bit when I got home.
