"Before the Bridge, They Rode the Ferry"

My brother converted my father's negatives into digital images last year.  My father was a professional  photographer before he went to work in San Francisco.  Dad rode the ferry to work from Oakland to San Francisco while  the San Francisco Bay Bridge was being built.  It was completed in 1936.  He took photographs from the ferry during that time.  I used one of his images to paint this 18" x 24" canvas in shades of black and white.  To make my black, I used French ultramarine, burnt sienna, and a touch alizaren crimson.  I loved that in the thirties, everyone wore hats.
